Attitude, Outlook & Perspective

Brooke was fueled with an even greater purpose when she was diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer in 2013.  If anything, her resolve to save the world became even stronger.  Brooke believed that “our attitude, outlook, perspective is the most empowering tool we have – abuse it!,” and so she channeled her energy and philanthropic spirit toward raising money for charities that fight the scourge of melanoma and other insidious cancers.

One of the greatest testaments to Brooke’s inspiring journey through life was the unrelenting army of TEAMbpw followers who supported her throughout her battle with melanoma.  Hundreds of people around the world united on Brooke’s behalf to support the organizations she championed, and collectively raised more than $400,000 to help ensure that Brooke left the world a better place than she found it.

The TEAMbpw Foundation was formed on April 11, 2024—what would have been Brooke’s 43rd birthday—to continue honoring the legacy that Brooke left behind.

TEAMbpw Foundation's, mission is to raise funds and awareness for charitable organizations that Brooke actively engaged with, contributed to, promoted, and otherwise supported during her remarkable lifetime. The Teambpw Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 organization.

Brooke Powers Wilson—our “bpw”—dedicated her life to leaving the world a better place than she found it.  While this credo was something she learned from a young age as a proud Girl Scout, it was an ethos she carried with her through every aspect of her life.  Brooke mentored young minds through her years of service for the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks and as Cheer Coach at Francis Parker School in San Diego.  She was an enthusiastic leader in charitable organizations like Cheer Los Angeles, organized an ocean cleanup project for Heal the Bay as a high school student, and ran boating and orienteering events as a young adult for the next generation of Girl Scouts in the San Fernando Valley.

In September of 2013, Brooke took on the challenging task of riding her bicycle 150 miles in one weekend, to support a newly formed organization, called Pedal the Cause, all while undergoing treatment for stage III melanoma. Not only did Brooke finish the ride but she was asked to be the opening ceremony speaker at the event. It was an unforgettable moment. Click here to view the video on YouTube.
